Recurring VR installations at Cal Academy are a fantastic way to share the newest VR films with a diverse audience.

Meet Chloe the bunny! We jumped at the chance to share Baobab Studio’s animated VR feature 'Invasion,’ which was selected for a 2017 Emmy for "Outstanding Interactive.”

‘Asteroids’ is the highly-anticipated follow-up to ‘Invasion!’ The aliens and their robot sidekick face teeth-gnashing space bugs and careening asteroids on a dangerous, deep space mission.

We fell hard for ‘LoVR’ by Aaron Bradbury. This VR short film visualizes the roller coaster ride of falling in love - all four seconds of it - using music and color to reveal the deep poetry hidden inside data depicting the brain-in-love’s neurochemical reactions.

Imagine perceiving the forest through the eyes of its creature inhabitants. London studio Marshmallow Laser Feast invites us to become a barn owl, a mosquito, and a dragonfly inside ‘In The Eyes Of The Animal.’ Created using 360-degree cameras, drones, laser and CT scans, and real photogrammetry animal footage from London's Natural History Museum, ITEOTA is (says online zine Fader) “like riding the Magic School Bus of the future.”

Moderat’s stunning “Reminder,” written & directed by Mate Steinforth and produced by Sehsucht Berlin and Pfadfinderei, takes viewers on a musical journey through an underground populated with strange and wondrous creatures.

We dove into the abyss with ‘SONAR,’ a subterranean 3D thriller for Gear VR. ‘SONAR’ is a bleakly beautiful, immersive, and one of the first 360 stereoscopic cgi VR films. The first VR film from Filmacademy Baden-Württemberg, ‘SONAR’ looks a great preview of things to come.

Talented Dream Logic volunteers makes these nights at the museum worth repeating.
